Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
